“While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.” — Matthew 9:10 (NIV)
There’s a table. It’s not polished and pristine. It’s marked by scars and stained by grace. And Jesus is sitting at it—surrounded by people who don’t belong there.
At least… not by the world’s standards.
Tax collectors. Fishermen who walked away when things got hard. A disciple who doubted. Another who denied Him. A woman caught in adultery. A man who murdered and persecuted Christians before becoming one.
And yet, they’re there.
Because Jesus didn’t come for the ones who already had it all together. He came for the sinners. For the broken. For the misfit disciples still trying to understand. He came... for you.
Sometimes we still sit at a distance—watching the table from across the room. Maybe it’s shame. Maybe it’s the voice that says, you should know better by now. Maybe it’s the past you’d rather forget or the choices you’re still wrestling through.
But here’s the truth: Jesus already knows.
And He still says, “Come. Sit. Be with Me.”Not when you’ve cleaned yourself up. Not when you’ve made it right. But now.
Because the table isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. And there is a place with your name on it. Not out of pity, but out of purpose. Because you were always meant to be His guest.
So, take your seat—not because you’ve earned it, but because He invited you.
You’re not an afterthought.
You’re not barely welcome.
You are wanted.
🙏 Prayer:
God,
Thank You for seeing me—not just for who I’ve been, but for who You’ve called me to be. Thank You for sitting with sinners, for pulling up a chair for the outcast, and for never asking me to earn my way in.Today, I choose to take my seat—not because I feel worthy, but because You’ve said I belong.
Let my life be a testimony of Your grace.
Amen.
