Give Thanks Today
Maybe not a devotional, but still worth being said
Psalm 118:1 (NIV)
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
I sat down this week ready to write another devotional—and instead all that came out was a list of praises. No clever theme. No big spiritual insight. Just gratitude bubbling up and spilling onto the page.
Maybe that is the insight.
Sometimes God reminds us that worship isn’t complicated. He deserves more than our words can offer, but He still chooses us… and He delights in what we bring.
Thank You, God, that this –6° North Dakota cold is gentler than I feared. Thank You that my kids haven’t fought me on the extra layers.
Thank You for the sunlight glittering on the snow like You dipped the whole world in grace.
Thank You for my husband—steady, hardworking, faithful.
Thank You for the late-night talks with my sister, for holding my baby niece, for coming home refreshed.
Thank You for reminding me it’s okay to slow down.
Thank You for work that matters.
Thank You for friends who lift my arms when I am tired.
Thank You for being my refuge—my help—my always-present Father.
As we move deeper into the Christmas season, may we keep the spirit of Thanksgiving alive every single day.
May praise become our posture.
May His love shine through our actions—not just in December, but in the year ahead.
What are you thankful for today?
