Hey, y’all!
I started writing again a few months ago after God gave me that final push through some wonderful women I met at our women’s Bible study. The desire to write had never fully gone away since I stopped several years ago, but I kept shoving it off to the side. A part of me didn’t want to write. I didn’t want the critique. I didn’t feel like I had any words to speak. I let that part win out despite having a few people tell me that I didn’t need to quit. I needed to keep going. I needed to practice.
There were a few times that I tried to sit down and write, but it never went anywhere. I took that as my sign that I didn’t need to even try. Although I stopped in that sense, through my work as a paramedic I had to write reports. I had to write essays for school. I never thought of it as my writing, but God recently revealed to me that it was a part of the process. These ways kept me going and in practice despite me not considering it so.
My story will be revealed as God deems it so. For now, I write to you from my couch in North Dakota watching wildfire smoke flow in from Canada. I am currently in the midst of writing my first middle-grade novel. In the works is brainstorming for another book that will be geared more towards adult readers. I will try to keep some updates for those on here as they progress.
More often than not, you will see devotionals here that I work on through ChatGPT. The thoughts and edits are all mine, but the app has proven a powerful ally in organizing my thoughts, questions, and diving deeper into my Bible. I use ChatGPT to help me organize those into shorter devotionals that allow me to look back at things through shorter snippets. This has been an incredible tool for me that I want to share with all of you. These devotionals will be free here, but I plan to combine them into physical copies to be sold in the future. (The plan for now is that they remain free online in the blog!)
So what does that mean for my novels? While ChatGPT is a wonderful tool, I do not use it for writing my novels. It’s great for keeping track of things and staying organized, but it is not used for the writing itself.
I appreciate you taking the time to be here and read this introductory post. I look forward to sharing with you as these projects and devotionals progress!
Have a great weekend, y’all!
