“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
Before the healing came the ache.
Before the surrender came the fight.
And before the calling came the valley.
You may know the place I’m talking about. The one where your own choices left you hollow. The one where you questioned everything—God, yourself, your future. The place where prayers felt like silence, and the Bible might as well have been written in another language.
You were angry. You felt abandoned. And truthfully? You didn’t know if you cared anymore.
But then… somewhere in that valley—when you were too tired to run, too weary to pretend, too broken to fix yourself—something shifted.
Not all at once.
Just… enough.
Your heart cracked open in the silence. You didn’t have answers.
But you whispered, “God, I need You.”
And suddenly, the pain became a doorway. That ripping hole in your chest? It became room—space for the Spirit to move in. And for the first time in a long time, the Word began to make sense again. Not just the words on the page, but the Person behind them. You felt seen. Held.
Not because you climbed your way back to God, but because He came down into the valley to find you.
That’s where healing begins. Not in strength, but in surrender. Not in understanding, but in being undone. If you’re there right now, don’t rush it. God isn’t asking for a polished version of you. He’s waiting to lift your face and say, “It’s time.”
Not because you're ready, but because He's ready to rebuild.
Prayer:
God,
I don’t have fancy words. Just this broken heart. I’ve wandered, doubted, fallen, and tried to fix it all myself. But I can’t. I need You. Not just for rescue—but for restoration. Come fill the emptiness with Your Spirit. Open my eyes to see You again. Even in the valley, I will wait for Your voice.
Amen.
